This summer I had a great time stitching Laura J Perin’s “Red, White, & Blue Panel. The design contains numerous large Eyelet Stitches. I was not happy with the way they were coming out, they had a swirl look to them, due to the weight of the #5 Pearl Cotton and the size of the eyelet. I tried the method Janice Love uses in her hardanger designs, that didn’t work, because the eyelets were at a diagonal and I was to lazy to try and figure out a path that would work. I have always claimed to be a lazy stitcher:) So I tried making the eyelet stitch by doing them in two (2) paths of stitches. The first path was stitched skipping every other hole, the second path filling in the blank holes. I am sure some of you already know this trick, however, I had not picked up on the technique and I now love the way my eyelets look.
